Ronald Reagan died a few hours ago, and they drove the hearse from his home in Bel-Air to the mortuary in Santa Monica, on Wilshire, which is where I live. I went out and watched the motorcade and despite the fact that I'm a little too young to remember much from his presidency, and I am far from conservative, I was still shook up. The man was hugely important, and a good man. I don't think I've ever been witness to such a monumental procession. Making it surreal were the numbers of helicopters circling above as they passed.
